How it works

  1. 1

    Get a premise

One impossible change to the world, and a question about what follows.

  2. 2

    Answer and explain

Give an answer, then the chain of logic that gets you there. The more confident, the better.

  3. 3

    Get judged

The AI adjudicator marks your reasoning out of 5 for rigour and out of 5 for audacity.

What a good answer looks like

8/10

In a world where coffee was never discovered, which country won the space race?

Brazil

No coffee, so Brazil's plantations grow rubber instead. Brazil becomes the world's rubber superpower, so it makes every tyre, seal and spacesuit. Whoever makes the seals controls the rockets. Brazil lands on the moon in 1964.

Rigour 4, audacity 4. The rubber-to-rocket leap is bold, and the seals step just about holds.

There's no right answer. There's only a well-argued one.
